Dr Elizabeth Farrell is a gynaecologist and Medical Director of the Jean Hailes for Women's Health clinics.
As a founder of Jean Hailes for Women’s Health – a national not-for-profit organisation dedicated to improving the health of women, girls and gender-diverse individuals - it has been important to Elizabeth to continue the legacy of Australian pioneering medical doctor Jean Hailes.
Dr Hailes opened the first menopause clinic in Australia (only the second in the world) with women lining up around the block to see Health Professionals that would listen and understand them. Since then, the organisation has become a leader in women’s health and is the digital gateway for Women’s Health as appointed by the Australian Government with a wealth of trusted information often in multiple languages.
In 2009, Elizabeth was awarded the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) for service to medicine in the field of women's health, particularly obstetrics and gynaecology. She has received an Honorary Doctor of Laws from Monash University in 2013 and was appointed Visiting Professor of the Mongolian National University.
