LUCA LUCCHESI

Bass player and Co-Manager, The Vaudeville Smash

Vaudeville Smash is a Melbourne based band made up of three brothers (Marc Dan and Luca) and two mates in Martin Lubran and James Bowers.

Since their first gig at Fitzroy’s Bar Open in September 2009, VAUDEVILLE SMASH have carved their own niche, building a formidable following in their hometown of Melbourne and around the world. Notable mentions include playing the South by South West conference in Austin Texas twice, Japan and the Sapporo City Jazz Festival 3 times (along side Herbie Hancock and Chic Corea), shows in New York, Tokyo, Singapore for Music Matters, Toronto for Canadian Music Week, main stage at St Kilda Festival, the Australian Open Tennis, and selling out the Corner Hotel for the launch of their Album Dancing For The Girl.

May 2014 saw another exciting chapter in the VAUDEVILLE SMASH story, with the release of their world wide smash, Zinedine Zidane. The single, featuring the voice of Australian soccer, Les Murray, quickly became a viral hit, garnering over one million youtube views in just five weeks, and was featured in some of the biggest publications on the planet, including Billboard, ESPN, Eurosport and the BBC.

Vaudeville Smash’s new album, The Gift, (released in August 2016) really is just that – a synth heavy, sax-laden, bass induced gift. The album is a contemporary reworking of the early 80s funk/boogie scene, and evokes visions of Cameo, Midnight Star and The Gap Band and encompasses almost two years of writing, recording and touring.

The band has just returned from a monster national tour, having played Townsville Cultural Festival, Brisbane, Noosa, Brunswick Heads, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Geelong.

Luca is the bass player and co-manager in Vaudeville Smash.
